Resources for Accessibility and Independent Living
At SafeNest Accessible Modifications (SAM), we are dedicated to helping individuals with disabilities and mobility challenges achieve greater independence through customized home and business modifications. Below are some valuable resources to support you in your journey toward accessible living.
Aging & Disability Resource Centers (ADRCs)
ADRCs serve as a centralized hub for long-term care information and services. They offer guidance on state and federal programs, as well as local community resources, ensuring that individuals receive the support they need.
To find your local ADRC or to speak with a counselor, call the Elder Helpline at 1-800-963-5337 or visit the statewide database online.

Florida Brain & Spinal Cord Injury Program
This program provides vital support to individuals recovering from traumatic brain or spinal cord injuries. Services include case management, assistive technologies, and home modifications to help clients regain their independence and return to their communities.
For more information, visit Florida Health’s Brain & Spinal Cord Injury Program.
Vocational Rehabilitation services
Florida’s Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) helps individuals with disabilities achieve employment and self-sufficiency.
SAM works in tandem with VR to provide home modifications such as ramps, accessible workspaces, and adaptive equipment to ensure individuals can safely participate in the workforce. Learn more at Florida VR Services.

Centers for Independent Living (CILS)
CILs empower individuals with disabilities by offering advocacy, peer support, and independent living skills training. SAM complements these services with accessibility solutions that make homes and workplaces more inclusive.
Find your local CIL through the Florida CIL Network.
Disability Rights Florida
As Florida’s designated Protection and Advocacy system, Disability Rights Florida ensures the rights of individuals with disabilities in housing, healthcare, education, and more. SAM collaborates with this organization to provide accessible modifications that enable safe and independent living.
Visit Disability Rights Florida for additional resources.

Long-Term Care Services
The Statewide Medicaid Managed Care (SMMC) Long-Term Care program provides essential support for eligible individuals.
Through this program, SAM offers home accessibility adaptations, including grab bars, widened doorways, and other features that make everyday living safer and more manageable.
